Who Am I?

Cassidy Cutler  狄凯欣

I'll be your new Chinese tutor! I've spent the better part of the last six years living in China and Taiwan. My love for the language and culture has inspired me to begin helping others study Chinese as well.  Ice cream, classic books, music, and sushi are a few of my other passions. I am currently a student at BYU studying Chinese and Business. Let's learn Chinese together!

What does Kai Xin mean?

[ kye sheen ]
Kǎi Xīn ( 凯欣 ) is my Chinese first name.
Kāi xīn ( 开心 ), which has the same pronunciation but with different tones and characters, is the Chinese word for "happy".

What is the difference between Mandarin and Cantonese?

Mandarin is the official language of mainland China and the most widely spoken language in the world. Cantonese is also spoken in some parts of southern China and is the official language of Hong Kong. While both languages use slightly different versions of the same writing system, they are mutually unintelligible.
